In 2000 Jared took a fledgling radio station from 11th to 3rd in the market. His boss told him that was good, but to prove himself to the owners, he needed to win a Colorado Broadcasting Award (CBA). In 2001 he won the CBA for the best afternoon show in a major market. The real victory, however, was that listeners were calling the radio station to share how they'd never listened to commercial radio, until now. Somehow, on the saccharine thin programming of pop radio, a storyteller had broken through; he'd share his life and he'd inspire others to do the same. It was weird. And it was the beginning of a comedy and writing career that has seen him share the stage with the likes of Bob Newhart and Al Franken.
